FLINT, MI - Brett Grech's goal with just under six seconds remaining in the third period gave the Metro Jets a 5-4 win and a weekend exhibition sweep over the host Flint Jr. Generals Sunday afternoon.
Also scoring for the Jets were Dan Hudson (Chelsea HS), Tommy Kilgore (Pinckney HS), Justin Bennett (Monroe CC) and Erik Bachynsky (Northland College).
Goaltenders Dowler and Kolis shared time in net for Metro.
Next up for the Jets is the 2010-2011 season opener on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 7:50 p.m. at Lakeland Arena against the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks.
The Metro Jets are a Tier III Junior A hockey team based in Waterford, Mich., now in their 25th season of operation and fourth in the NA3HL. The Jets, national Junior B champs in 2002, play their home games at Lakeland Arena. This blog will follow the Jets through their 48-game NA3HL season and league playoffs.

Jets top Flint in Saturday exhibition
FLINT, MI - The Metro Jets notched their first win of the 2010-2011 season, albeit in an exhibition game, in a 4-3 win over the Flint Jr. Generals at Iceland Arena this afternoon.
Rookie Dan Hudson led the way with two goals, while fellow first-year skaters Travis Hargett and Tommy Kilgore notched one goal apiece.
Veteran goaltender Ian Mercer turned away 32 shots between the pipes for the win.
The Jets play Flint again tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Iceland Arena.
